Day 1

I really believe I lucked on out in already somewhat knowing my supervising teacher. It made today much, much easier. I was really nervous when I pulled into the first school, and she was right behind me. She made a little space in her van for me with a crate and made me a little portfolio! So sweet and welcoming! She did her best to make me feel at ease and not to worry.
This week is to just get to know eachother and the kids. I'll get to go over their files, and of course, meet them. I ahve a feeling this is going to be a really great experience. I am waiting to hear back from my classmates. I am anxious to know about everyone's day!
I know everyone will have more to report at the end of the week, but it's just all so exciting!
I hope I have the same enthusiasm by the end of the week!!!

Hey ya'll from up here in Pasco County.
I think I realized last night that the last year and a half has been a total blur, i dont remember anything, and I totally miss you all.
I hope everyone's first day was fun and exciting. I know mine was from the moment I woke up to a wet 3yr old laying next to me...gotta love her.
The first thing I got to do today was sit in an ESE team meeting and listen to a bunch of new rules being implemented this year for pre-eligibility intervention. Alot of which we learned in Laura's class that Pasco doesn't do yet. I lot of grumpy teachers complaining about having to record student progress so they can actually determine the student's problem...Welcome to teaching. My case load with Andrea is fairly diverse including TMH, totally blind, low vision, and the one whose parent cant be spoken to without an administrator present...YAY!!! I cant wait to get into it. This is really so exciting and I cant believe I am actually going to be something besides a student.
I did get to sit with JAckie and Andrea today which was so comforting. They are so helpful and I am very lucky to have 2 very experienced teachers helping me through this.
Cant wait to hear from all of you!!!

Love Kelly

Hello my family,
I am surviving on my own so far! All moved into my dorm here in TX, although it's not quite home, its shelter. I finally got internet this afternoon after a long weekend without it :) The network blocks MySpace and Facebook....meh, at least this blogger, my email, and AIM work. The students are cute, I am working mostly with older students, most all of which have multiple impairments of some kind. , including a few deaf/blind students whom I need to tactually sign with them, like hand under hand signing, very interesting! TSBVI has its own "code" of tactual symbols, its on 3 walls of a large room, and on their "intranet" Lotsa neat people, very helpful so far and welcoming too. I observed 4 or 5 students today, and made a "landmark" in the hallway for a certain door for students to square off on. Had fun with a gluegun :)

That's all I have time for for now, I've got to hop in the shower (an ordeal in itself) and make tomorrows lunch! weeee!!!!!!!!

Love and miss you all,
-Eric
